title: AIDS and Muslims
As with several of our other causes, AIDS carries a huge stigma particularly in the muslim community, for obvious reasons.
It used to be the “gay disease” now it’s the “promiscuous disease” or the “african disease” but really, it is much, much more than that! There are many ways AIDS can be contracted that have nothing to do with homosexuality or zinaa (unlawful sexual practices)
Not only that but to turn the other cheek and let ourselves think “well, it’s not a muslim problem” leaves our children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters at risk.
It’s deathly important that the muslim community looks past how an individual may have contracted AIDS and accept that fact that it is not an african disease, not a zinaa disease, not a homosexual disease, not a non muslim disease… it’s an indiscriminate disease that we NEED to be aware of.
