Asalamualekom sisters!

Not long ago we launched our new layout and alhamdolillah the feedback has been positive! There are a few things I need to iron out and a few things about the layout that didn’t work in practice as i’d hoped they would, so when I have a little bit of free time (i’m a busy WAHM (work at home mum) at the moment but expect that to slow down by the Gregorian new year inshaAllah) i’m going back to the drawing board to make a few structural changes to the homepage (nothing major as i’m mostly very happy with the layout)

Seeing Colo(u)rs!

I’m also not content with the color scheme, would love to hear your ideas on that but it feels a little bland to me, I wanted something with more contrast (I’m all about contrast) and more edge, so I may go back to the drawing board there as well and see if I can find something that works better. I’m thinking possible adding some black in place of the dark purple and perhaps changing the light gray/purple as well to something else but definitely keeping the hot pink. Any suggestions?

Tagline changes… ?

I’m seriously considering removing the “Islamic Girl Talk” in favor of ‘Muslim women on the Personal, the Spiritual and Society’ or possibly “Muslim Girl Talk” (since we don’t only talk about Islam related topics) If you don’t like that idea, please protest in the comments or on facebook or twitter. I might make a poll before I decide.

Columns…

We have a few sisters working on Weekly or Monthly columns as well inshaAllah i’m excited to get some of those launched soon! I’m going to start a ‘Daily with UmmHend’ column where i’ll talk about general day to day things or current events with a post each day inshaAllah. If you’re interested in doing a monthly or weekly column please contact us from the contact page (or on Twitter @muslimasoasis or on our facebook page Muslimas Oasis) the kinds of things i’m looking for are for example a Beauty column, a Parenting column, a Homeschooling column (if there’s no interest I might do this one myself) etc. and they would be weekly or monthly tips (short) or short ideas, a YouTube video ont he subject you’d like to share, a link with description, an Event, an anecdote etc. nothing long or in depth (those go in the other sections!)

Changes that have already happened:

You may have noticed there have been a few changes to the main menu at the top, please take a minute to familiarize yourself with that again. The Author Bio’s have moved to a page under About called ‘The People’

Announcement coming soon!

I’m excited to announce the giveaway winners inshaAllah this Thursday so look out for that!

Also…

I’ve recently sent out our first newsletter! The newsletter is periodic (no more than once a month but not necessarily monthly) and will just be a summary of the latest happenings at MO and mention of what’s in the works. If you are subscribed and didn’t get it you might need to check your spam box, some email providers are a bit spam-box happy (and for good reason) if we have enough subscribers there may be special benefits in the future with the newsletter. And don’t forget to become a fan on facebook if you aren’t already and follow us on Twitter if you don’t already, both are updated often and are the best places to contact me.

Jazakom Allahu khairun to all our regular readers for your support and Welcome to those who are new, don’t forget to rate, comment and share to show your support to our authors!

We have readers from all over the world and from every continent and welcome more all the time (my secret goal is to have at least one visit from every country in the world. When I dream, I dream big)
