[Poem] Power Lines

Glistening.

The life that clings to the lifeless.
The tender quivers of a last breath.
The gentle letting go.

Falling.

The vapor that is left behind.
The clutching of moments.
The evaporation.
The faded existence.

Gone.

August 13 2011 Emma Apple. Inspired by raindrops and the East Africa famine. The title describes the circumstances of the inspiration and the division between the power and the powerless that has contributed to the disaster in East Africa.

  1. bismillah masha’Allah, sis, this blew me away with the evaporating vapor. Subhannallah! I read it and cried and my husband asked why I was crying. I read it to him, slowly, carefully. ya Allah, he had tears in his eyes, too, when I looked back up at him. yaaaaaaaaaah, Allah comfort our hearts in that moment and carry our souls to the Paradise, insha’Allah, ameen!

  2. Mashallah, very eloquent and moving piece of poetry!
